What Is the Renewal by Andersen® Environmental Commitment?

Renewal by Andersen® and our parent company Andersen® Corporation are among the first replacement window companies to have received the Green Seal® Certification for Environmental Stewardship. Today, we discuss how our commitment to helping the environment helped us earn this designation.

Today’s Environmental Challenges

The following are some of the challenges we continue to face as an environmentally responsible company:

Sustainability – Products with long lifespans can benefit the environment by helping slow down the rate that landfills get filled. Our replacement windows have longer than average lifespans and are supported by our Transferable Limited Warranties.

Renewing existing housing – An average home consumes more energy, which increases its carbon emission levels. Our energy-efficient replacement windows can help reduce energy usage, which, in turn, can help reduce your home’s carbon footprint.

Responsible manufacturing – Our Fibrex® material frames are made with wood fibers made from at least 40% of reclaimed wood fibers, most of which are sourced from Andersen’s woodworking facilities. Our High-Performance™ Low-E4® glass also contains at least 12% recycled glass by weight.

Our Partnerships

We have partnered up with other organizations that share the goal of helping the environment:

The National Fenestration Rating Council® (NFRC) — The NFRC is a non-profit organization that provides certification to fenestration or windows, entry doors and skylights. Our replacement windows come with NFRC energy ratings labels, which lets consumers identify products that meet their home’s energy needs.

ENERGY STAR® — ENERGY STAR is an initiative between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)  and the Department of Energy. The ENERGY STAR labels lets consumers identify energy-efficient products at point of purchase.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency — Andersen Corporation is a recognized charter member of the U.S. EPA’s Environmental Performance Track initiative. We are committed to reducing off-gassed pollutants by monitoring our facilities through the Andersen XL program, which is based on U.S. EPA’s own Project XL.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design — LEED is the certification program for eco-friendly buildings and is founded by the U.S. Green Building Council. Many LEED-certified properties are equipped with Renewal by Andersen replacement windows and Andersen patio doors.
