We Can Answer Your Window Replacement Questions!

Renewal by Andersen® of Wyoming is here to answer any questions you may have about our quality replacement windows so you can make better decisions. We know you have to be well informed in order to make a wise decision regarding replacement windows, which is why we have compiled this list of FAQs to arm you with the knowledge you need.

Q:  Why should windows have two to three panes of glass?
A:  To be truly energy efficient, a window needs more than one pane of glass to help you stay warmer in winter and cooler in summer. This helps to form a necessary thermal barrier to guard against wasteful energy transfer between the interior and exterior.  This space is called a “glass sandwich,” designed to cut down on energy loss when properly sealed.

Q:  What does the NFRC label mean and why is it important?
A:  The NFRC stands for the National Fenestration Research Council. This lab puts windows and doors through extensive testing to ensure top performance, with an eye on energy efficiency. Each product is then rated by key performance measures, the results of which are spelled out on the label affixed to your new windows. No label? Don’t buy the product.

Q:  What’s best for frame material: wood, vinyl, aluminum or composite?
A: While each material has its advantages, you really have to take a look at what will offer you all the benefits in one: strength, durability, insulation value, carefree maintenance, and a pleasing look. Wood looks great but it rots over the years. It’s also not a good insulator, plus you have to paint it every so often. Vinyl windows are low maintenance, inexpensive and highly insulative, yet they can stick and warp. Lastly, aluminum is definitely strong and long-lasting, but it has no insulation value. This leaves Renewal by Andersen’s Fibrex® frame made up of a composite material. This material performs well in any climate, is low maintenance and has all the natural beauty of wood without the care requirements.

Q:  How much can I save on my heating and cooling bills with new windows?
A:  The U.S. Department of Energy points out that 30 percent of a home’s energy is lost through gaps and cracks inherent in inefficient windows and doors. You’re essentially throwing out 30 cents of every dollar you spend on energy, so make the wise choice and save up to 33 percent on your monthly energy bills with our new windows.

Q:  Can I apply a coating or tinting to my windows to provide relief from the sun?
A:  Summer can be brutal in Wyoming, and sometimes you just need a little shade. That’s why we feature a Low-emissivity (Low-E) glass with a microscopically thin metal coating that reflects UV rays and heat energy, preventing direct sunlight from entering the home and fading your couches and carpets. Renewal by Andersen’s High Performance™ Low-E4® SmartSun™ glass is the most energy efficient glass we have ever offered, at 70% more energy efficient in summer and 45% more energy efficient in winter as compared to ordinary dual panel glass.*

Q:  Are replacement windows affordable?
A:  Yes, although the actual price tag you will see depends on the size and style of the window you want, as well as the options you choose. We size each window individually, providing you with an up-front estimate before starting. All professional installation and materials are built into the final cost when it comes to window replacement in Casper WY.

Q:  Why can’t I go the cheap route and just buy my windows from the local home improvement store?

A:  You get what you pay for! Those “off the shelf” products are mass produced, and aren’t custom fitted to your home like ours are. Plus, they’re not made with the highest quality materials or thermally efficient glass available, resulting in a sub-par product that won’t last the test of time. With us, you don’t have to worry about messy reconstruction and ill-fitting windows that leak energy.
