4 Factors You Need to Consider When Replacing Your Windows

Replacement windows are a significant investment, which is why you should always inspect the qualities of the windows you’d be buying. As the leading window contractor in the area, we share the factors to consider when buying replacement windows.

1. Placement

Certain windows styles work in certain rooms. An oft-cited example is sliding windows: placing out-swinging windows like casements next to busy areas like footpaths can be disruptive. Likewise, a double-hung window may be difficult to operate when positioned over kitchen cabinets, so casement windows are better in this context.

2. Ventilation

In most situations, you have to compromise between uninterrupted views and room ventilation when you choose a single replacement window style. For instance, picture windows are great for framing a great view, but can’t be used for ventilation because it’s fixed. Ask your window company if they can manufacture custom combination windows. Renewal by Andersen® can manufacture bay windows with a picture window for the main window, then casement or double-hung windows at the sides.

3. Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency should always be a major consideration. To optimize energy efficiency, you should minimize heat transfer from one side to the other, which is easily done using conventional insulation on the walls and the attic. Windows, on the hand, are mostly made of glass, a naturally insulative material. A dual-glaze design solves this problem by preventing heat transfer through air molecules through an airless insulating layer.
Renewal by Andersen replacement windows feature High-Performance™ Low-E4® glass options that, in addition to the effective dual-glaze design, reflects heat from the sun. The frames are made of our exclusive Fibrex® material that combines the strength of wood with the low-maintenance benefits of vinyl.

4. Installation

Even the best replacement windows wouldn’t perform as intended if not installed properly, which is why picking the right roofer is every bit as important as choosing the windows themselves. At Renewal by Andersen of Wyoming, we follow a strict installation process that ensures consistent installation quality every time. We also back our work with the Renewal by Andersen 20/2/10 year limited warranty, which includes a two-year workmanship coverage with the material coverage.

We serve most of Wyoming, including Casper and Cheyenne, WY. If you would like to know more about our replacement windows, call us today at (307) 232-2100 or fill out our contact form for a free, no-hassle quote.
