The Truth Behind Sliding Patio Door Myths

Sliding patio doors have been a home standard ever since the shift in trend to indoor-outdoor living. It’s the threshold between your main living space and your extended living space, and the sliding variant is arguably the most popular of all patio door designs. There are a couple of myths associated with this kind of door though, and today, Renewal by Andersen® of Wyoming would like to discuss the truths behind them.

Myth #1: Sliding Patio Doors Aren’t Secure

This is a myth that has a factual basis. When sliding patio doors first came out, they had flimsy frames and unreliable locks that made them very easy to break into. Door security has improved since then, and today they are more secure than ever.

The patio doors we offer are made of Fibrex® composite material, and they surpass wood, vinyl, and even aluminum in terms of sheer durability. You can even have us custom-make your new doors with built-in security systems to increase its security!

Myth #2: Sliding Patio Doors Let In Drafts and Increase Heat Intrusion

Modern glazing technology has made sliding patio doors very energy-efficient. Our own patio doors come with High-Performance™ Low-E4® glass that acts as a strong thermal barrier that locks heat and cold. And with our Low-E4® SmartSun™ glass coating, your sliding doors will be 70% more energy-efficient during summer and 45% more energy-efficient during winter.

Myth #3: Sliding Patio Doors Aren’t Private

While sliding patio doors do have larger glass panes, privacy is no longer an issue these days due to the sheer amount of door treatments available from manufacturers like us. Many treatments are even available on the market.

When you work with our team at Renewal by Andersen® of Wyoming, we make sure to take security, privacy, and energy-efficiency into account when you have us install your new patio doors. We work closely with you to find you the door solutions you need.
